Argent Supports Waltham High’s Unified Basketball Team

The 2023-2024 Waltham High School Unified Basketball finished the season with a record of 3-2. It was capped off with a win on Senior Night over Lexington that went right down to the wire. The Seniors were honored on Halloween night. The gym was packed with fans, the cheerleaders performed and the band was on hand in costumes to support the team as well. The team also had a fundraiser that evening to support Declan Lyons, the son of our Associate Principal, Dr. Bobby Lyons, who is battling brain cancer. The team raised over $300 and a check in the amount of $500 was given to the Lyons family.
The team is made up of students with disabilities, our special education students known as the athletes and regular education students, known as the partners who assist the athletes on the court at the same time and compete against other high schools. The Unified team was started 5 years ago and is supported by Special Olympics and the MIAA, which is the governing body of high school athletics in the state of Massachusetts. The state has grown from 20 teams to over 130 teams in the span of 5 years.
A big thank you goes out to Dave Duschesneau and Argent Wealth Management for all their donations and support over the past 5 years. It has been a tremendous relationship. Lastly, thanks to all the players and coaches, past and present, as well as our Athletic Director Steve LaForest who have made this program possible. Congratulations to our seniors, Joe Cormier, Lukas Auras, Deisy Najera Teo, Nick Moxley, Preston O’Connell, Patrick O’Connell, Jared O’Donnell, Thomas Richard, Robbie Buxton, Ezra Jean Baptiste, Dylan Wise and Danielle Ananian.
